**WL Daycare **is a non-profit center with 32 spaces, looking to add a qualified General Operations Manager to our already fantastic team Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Daycare General Operations Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Williams Lake & District Daycare, including the financial and administrative aspects. This position will ensure the childcare team is delivering high-quality care in accordance with the WL Daycare philosophy, code of conduct, and polices as well as Child Care Licensing Regulations to ensure the health and safety of all children and staff. The Daycare General Operations Manager has a strong understanding of leadership, quality care, Child Care Licensing Regulations and can work in respectful collaboration with other staff hired at the centre, families, practicum students, the child development centre, licensing and other services connected to the centre.

The Daycare General Operations Manager will work closely with the ECE Supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the daycare centre.

**Qualifications/skills**

Education and Certification:

- Training in early childhood education; ECE Certification preferred
- First Aid Certificate preferred
- Clean criminal record check.
- Ability to provide the required documentation in accordance with Community Care Facilities licensing requirements.

**Experience**:

- Experience supervising childcare staff
- Experience with administrative management

Knowledge and Skills:

- Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills.
- Positive communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills able to prioritize competing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Able to work effectively independently and as a member of a team
- Up to date knowledge of relevant community resources

- Ability to remain calm, professional, objective, and constructive.

**Hours**: Part time, up to 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 7:30 and 5pm. Combination of in-person and remote work, with ability to spend at least 10 hours per week in the facility.

**Wage**:$32 per hour**

**Vacation Pay**: 4% holiday pay for first 5 years, 6% beyond 5 years

**Working Conditions**:

- This position interacts regularly with people in difficult situations.
- Engagement with children, parents/guardians, staff and external contacts.
- Dynamic environment with multiple demands, changing priorities and constant interruption.
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting and lifting ( under 20 kg).
- Noise level in the centre varies from quiet to loud.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the centre meets all requirements of Child CareLicensing Regulations, including maintaining the facility and the children’s files.
- Establish staff schedules in accordance with ratios outlined in licensing regulations.
- Maintain program waitlists, distribute registration packages, and ensure the orientation of new families to the program, the facility and staff.
- Lead the recruitment, hiring and evaluation of front-line program staff.
- Ensure facilities are clean and safe, and that equipment is in good repair.
- Maintain records per licensing requirements and ensure they are accurate and complete.
- Develop and maintain positive & effective relationships with the daycare administration and staff, community partners, government agencies, etc.
- Lead, motivate, mentor, coach and supervise staff, including providing support to staff as needed, facilitating access to professional development opportunities for staff, and hosting staff meetings.
- Ensure that the centre promotes positive, holistic, curriculum-based early childhood development, in a culturally appropriate manner to support all areas of the child’s development and needs. Ensuring the environment feels safe for all children.
- Ensure staff are utilizing positive behavioural management strategies to guide children’s behaviour. Work in collaboration with the Child Development Center to support children with high behavioural needs through provision of care plans.
- Support the staff to develop and provide age-appropriate program/curriculum planning, informed by the latest early childhood development research.
- Ensure positive communication and collaboration with staff, professionals, parents, guardians, families and caregivers. Utilizing positive and respectful conflict resolution skills.
