Head Custodian

**Position Description**

**Position**: Head Custodian

**Reports to**: Minister

**Full Time 37.5 hours per week - **on site Monday - Friday, some flexibility may be required

**Key Responsibilities**:The Custodian has responsibility for Oakridge Presbyterian Church’s cleanliness and light maintenance work, as well as Church event set ups/take downs and clean ups. The Custodian will work with ministers, program staff, session, and members of the congregation to support the Oakridge Presbyterian Church vision.

**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**
- To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and light maintenance in the church interior and adjacent exterior property.
- Perform cleaning duties as stipulated in the attached OPC Cleaning Frequencies document (See Addendum).
- Perform light maintenance work (light replacement, ceiling tile changes, toilet seat tightening, etc.) on both the interior and exterior of the church property.
- Responsible for the set up and take down, and clean-up of Church related events(where volunteers are not available).
- Maintain the immediate outside walkways, entrances, and grounds of the Church property (this includes snow removal and salting of sidewalks) except on Saturday & Sundays.
- Assist with security measures for staff, volunteers and anyone using the facilities, protecting church interests.
- Be available for special events (weddings, funeral, large congregational events).
- Where required, ensure pick up of appropriate supplies and deliver/remove items to recycle (not taken by City).

**Administrative**
- Regularly order sundry Custodial cleaning supplies within annual budgetary parameters.

**Finance and Budgeting**
- Assist the Business Administrator in keeping Custodial supplies and equipment purchases within annual budgetary parameters.

**Computer Hardware and Software Administration**

Other special assignments as required from time to time.

**Qualifications**
- Experience in Custodial cleaning required
- Knowledge of floor maintenance, such as experience in high-speed buffing, stripping, and waxing
- Complete minor repairs, projects and maintenance e.g., paint touch-up, light changes, minor plumbing repairs.
- Ability to coordinate completion of tasks in a timely manner.
- Capable of working with mínimal supervision.
- Physical ability to fulfill work requirements (i.e., lifting, heights)
- Police Record Check required
- WHMIS training required
- Knowledge of acceptable health and safety practices.
- Committed to work as an active team member in a Christian environment
- Enjoyment of people and serving others
- Fully qualified driver’s license, preferred.

**Salary**: $16.75-$19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Flexible Language Requirement:

- French not required

- Cleaning: 1 year (preferred)
- janitorial: 1 year (required)
