Machine Operator L1 - Punch Press

**About the Role: This is a Full-time, Salaried position.**

**About The Machine Operator L1 - Punch Press**

As a Machine Operator L1 - Punch Press, you are responsible for cutting and bending metals of various types, sizes, and thicknesses in accordance with instructions, by selecting appropriate programs and operating the CNC Turret Punch Press.

Ensuring that material and finished pieces meet the quality requirements and are made with the appropriate material. Producing parts from drawings and reporting non-conformances and working to solve known issues. Checking calculations for bend allowance and planning for optimum sheet yield.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Program, set up and operate a punch press machine for a routine established work.

2. Understand and interpret detailed drawings and schematics.

4. Effectively use hand-measuring instruments (ex. measuring tape, square, Vernier caliper).

5. Inspecting the product in accordance with drawing specifications and identify non-conformance. Includes deburring all parts during full course production.

6. Ability to work multiple disciplines as needed (welding, finishing, assembly, shear).

7. Maintain the machinery, tools, and workstation in a good working condition.

8. Handle medium-to-heavy materials intermittently.

9. Must follow all the safety protocols while working.

10. Troubleshoot the non-functioning machinery when necessary.

11. Identify and report any potential dangers in the workplace.

12. Cross-train in various departments and assist as needed.

13. Complete work within expected period of time.

14. Communicate well with colleagues and team leader.

15. Demonstrate low absenteeism and punctuality.

16. Ability to work with mínimal supervision.

17. Other duties as assigned.

18. Able to lift up to 50lbs (assisted if needed); may work in hot areas 5%, noise 0%.

19. Ensure adherence to Health and Safety as well as active participation in 5S activities in work area.

**Attributes, Skills and Knowledge**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience setting up and operating a CNC Punch Press
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Manufacturing or Metal Fabricating preferred
- Experience using Amada machines an asset
- Strong math and geometry competency
- Ability to understand detailed drawings and schematics
- Ability to understand and interpret technical manuals for a range of products and machines
- Valid Forklift License an asset
- Physical requirements: Able to lift up to 50lbs (assisted if needed), standing for long periods, repetitive movements

**This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location. Hours are typically 6:00am to 2:30pm.**
