**Duties**:
As Finance and Administration Manager of the Northern Ontario Field Unit, you will provide advice and guidance to senior management in a medium sized, moderately complex Field Unit where the provision of financial services is of primary importance. This position is an integral member of the Northern Ontario Field Unit management team and will lend their expertise to our operations throughout the region.

**Work environment**:
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada. You would be part of the Northern Ontario Field Unit (NOFU), one of 34 field units across Parks Canada. NOFU is distinctive in that it is comprised of a National Park, a National Marine Conservation Area, and two National Historic Sites: a canal/waterway, and an archaeological ruin. NOFU is geographically large with four primary working locations: the NOFU Administrative Office in Thunder Bay, the Lake Superior NMCA office in Nipigon, Pukaskwa National Park near Marathon, and the Sault Ste. Marie Canal NHS in Sault Ste. Marie, which also serves Fort St. Joseph, located approximately 1 hour to the south-east.

This position is based in the Field Unit office located Thunder Bay which supports the operations of all 4 locations.

Thunder Bay is situated along the north shore of Lake Superior, home to the picturesque Sleeping Giant peninsula. It's the largest community on Lake Superior, boasting a rich culture and an abundance of resources and services that support a strong economy. Thunder Bay is a city with a rural community feel. Daily flights to Toronto, Ottawa and Winnipeg keep residents connected. It is a place for outdoor enthusiasts that includes, natural wonders like Kakabeka Falls or Sleeping Giant, and where one can enjoy activities such as, biking, kayaking, canoeing, snowmobiling, skiing, recreational fishing, and boating. There are many indoor activities to pursue as well, such as visiting the local art galleries and museums or enjoying a musical or stage show at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics and relevant experience performing duties related to the position.
OR
Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA or CPA) combined with relevant experience for financial positions within the public service.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Significant* experience managing the delivery of financial and administrative services (such as budget management, salary management, accounts receivables, material management, conducting financial analyses and reports, and records management)
- Significant* experience preparing, analyzing and interpreting financial management reports, and conducting financial analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and costing
- Experience providing strategic advice on financial policies, directives and guidelines to a wide variety of stakeholders
- Experience effectively leading and coaching staff in an inclusive and respectful manner (including full-cycle performance management responsibilities)
