Summer Fresh Salads is a leading manufacturer of hummus, dips, and salads in Canada. We currently have an opening for a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor. This key position within our organization will report to the Director of Distribution.

Under the direction of the Distribution Director this position is accountable for the day-to-day operations of shipping and receiving activities for the company. The Supervisor oversees a variety of tasks that must be performed by the staff on a specific shift. Ensures that the staff is working according to quality and safety standards. This position is also responsible to meet and exceed department and company KPIs. This position may work days, afternoons and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervision of all phases of shipping, receiving and warehouse operations
- Scheduling of third-party workers to meet business needs
- Monitor all inventory and product loss control
- Maintain shipping and receiving records and prepare reports for management review
- Ensure that respective work areas are organized and clean
- Accurately enter all inbound shipments into journal to be recorded and entered into the shipping database and inbound loads into the receiving log.
- Ensure that all pre-cool loading, trailers and 3PLs received all needed product.
- Monitor shipping and receiving notices, loading bills, invoices, orders and other records to prioritize shipping and receiving activities, work assignments and shipping methods to meet the scheduling of shipping and receiving.
- Oversee incoming and outbound shipping activities for accuracy, conditions of shipment and completeness.
- Inspect material handling equipment and notify maintenance of any defects for repair.
- Makes sure that all of the proper procedures are in place and being followed for efficient productivity
- Verifies that the daily requisition that is to be transferred to 181 Sharer Road is picked correctly.
- Uses RSA, the Company’s operating system, to record the receipt of goods from suppliers and transfers to the Company.
- Leads inventory counts on a weekly, period end, and/or year-end basis (as required).
- Ensures that the appropriate stock levels are always maintained.
- Investigates all claims relating to OS&D for inventory purposes.
- Responsible for doing spot checks on inventory items and making adjustments in the system, when necessary.
- Utilizes the warehouse in the best possible manner by rotating stock to allocate storage space.
- Ensures that both Shipping & Receiving departments are meeting their KPI’s.
- Work on special projects and other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills
- Post-secondary an asset or previous directly related experience
- Minimum of 3+ years’ previous distribution experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility.
- Previous Shipping/Receiving supervisory experience required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under high pressure in meeting the demands of the business and responding effectively to a rapidly changing environment. Needs to be able to perform all jobs within the department.
- Team player who can relate with all levels of staff.
- Good understanding of equipment capabilities relative to the safe operation of the vehicles used.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends, on a regular basis.
- Needs good product knowledge.
- Ability to support a cross-functional distribution team.
- Positive and professional demeanor.
- Excellent prioritization skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with people at all levels
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to act with discretion, patience and diplomacy.

- Must be able to work in a cooler environment, continuous standing and walking with some lifting up to 50 lbs. involved.
- On occasion may have responsibility to deliver difficult feedback and performance appraisals.
