**SMS Equipment is growing** We are looking for **Machinists** who enjoys rebuilding componentry and tooling, makes safety a priority and is excited about working the largest, most advanced earthmoving equipment. You will be at the forefront helping to keep those machines, and the industry they service, moving **This role works out of our Shop in Acheson, AB.**
The shift rotation for this position is** **7x7.**
The hourly rate for this position is **$53.51 per hour plus applicable premiums.**
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
This position requires the capability of following very precise specifications, the experience in the operation of lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills, milling machines, and drill presses. Working with close tolerance and performing quality control checks. Additional responsibilities include:
- Study specifications, charts, drawings or sample parts to determine the machining operation to be performed.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances and prepare working sketches if necessary.
- Measure and mark metal and other materials/fine tolerances required.
- Think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
- Set up and operate tools, which may be computer numerically controlled, to perform precision machining operations.
- Fit parts to mechanisms and verify dimensions.
- Interpret work order and technical manuals.
- Complete job specific reports and paperwork as needed.
- Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
- Motivated and able to work in a challenging environment with mínimal supervision.
**Qualifications**:
The successful incumbent will have a high school diploma and an inter-provincial or equivalent provincial journey tradesperson ticket. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Additional qualifications include:
- Strong organizational skills.
- The ability to use precision measuring tools.
- The ability to follow instruction, and be able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to excellence, acute safety awareness.
- The ability and attitude to ensure compliance to all workplace health and safety policies.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy with a variety of individuals and groups.
- Planning and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and complete projects.
