**The Position**

This position will report to the Pathways to Education Manager, under the direction of the Director of Education, and provide nutritional meals to the Pathways to Education program.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide food service preparation; set up and stock stations with all necessary ingredients for example chopping vegetables, preparing meat, or preparing sauces.
- Provide food service execution; ensure a high standard of food quality and follow plating specifications, ensure that orders come out in excellent quality and promptly.
- Provide food safety and organization, comply with different kitchen standards such as nutrition, sanitation, and safety standards, ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and maintain stock inventory.
- Provide kitchen leadership, and maintain a positive and professional approach with the team and staff.
- Understands and follows regulations, policies and procedures, and safety rules and practices.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Perform other related duties as defined and assigned by the reporting Director or designate on an as-required basis.

**Education and Experience**
- Current Safe Food Handling certificate.
- Grade 12 or equivalency.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 1-year related experience in cooking.
- A flexible schedule that includes evenings.
- Experience working within a governance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations; familiarity with First Nations culture, and history is considered an asset.

**Knowledge Skills and Abilities**
- Knowledge of the Canadian/First Nations Food Guide.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Knowledge of the political, social, and economic objectives of the Saskatoon Tribal Council and the Dakota, Cree, and Saulteaux cultures will be considered an asset.
- Dependability: able to work independently, submit accurate documentation, and seek guidance when needed
- Receptive: accept feedback, take ownership of responsibilities, and identifies areas of growth
- Interpersonal Skills: communicates clearly, seeks solutions, and demonstrates flexibility

**Other Conditions**
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CCRC) with vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends, and to perform other related duties as required or assigned.
