**THE ROLE**

As our new Project Manager, you will be part of the Energy & Technical Services team based in Niagara Falls, you will be working in collaboration with Health & Safety, Environmental Performance, Sales, Marketing and Operations to deliver projects that have heavy civil, general building and complex mechanical components that support our growing operations base throughout Ontario and other locations across Canada. Reporting to the General Manager, you play a lead role in the pre-approval phase of projects, including scope development with sales and operations, engagement with 3rd party engineering for initial designs, budgeting/estimating/costing of the work and coordination with corporate financial modelling to ensure projects meet the appropriate hurdle criteria for consideration by the Board of Directors. Once approved, you will have full oversight and responsibility to deliver the project in accordance with the technical specifications and within the time, scope and budgetary requirements. Experience with the Design-Build or IPD model would be an asset.

In addition to the primary responsibilities noted above, you will also be required to perform a variety of related job duties to support the projects and/or our operations in general. These include but may not be limited to:

- Engaging with design professionals to refine and finalize project scope and design details.
- Preparation of bid packages, guide tendering and sub-contractor/trade selection process.
- Lead procurement and material control activities
- Negotiation and review of legal contracts in conjunction with the General Manager and internal/external counsel as needed.
- Monitor and regularly report on the progress of each project as it relates to financial performance and corporate objectives.
- Schedule and coordinate resources and field services to ensure projects are completed on schedule and specifications are adhered to.
- Adjudicate changes to the scope, schedule or budget of the project and follow established protocols for formal changes to the project.
- Ensure health, safety and environmental policies, procedures are adhered to and that projects are constructed in accordance with all legislated regulations.
- Partner with various Walker business units to develop budgets, estimates and technical solutions for a wide variety of operational issues.
- Develop, monitor and maintain positive relationships with partners, suppliers, contractors, consultants, clients and prospects to ensure operations run smoothly, resolve concerns promptly and efficiently, and develop potential future business opportunities.
- Liaise with municipalities and government regulatory agencies as required to secure permits/approvals.
- Prepare or support others in the preparation of proposals and tenders to attain work including project estimation and pricing, work plan and schedule documentation and drawing review.
- Participate in industry associations, committees and establishes potential sales leads to develop and foster relationships and promote business opportunities.

**Skills/Qualifications**:

- Civil engineering degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary school education and hands-on experience with demonstrated competency in core areas. Mechanical experience would be preferred.
- 10 years of project management experience with a large GC firm
- Advanced ability to pay close attention to detail, ensures work is done correctly and thoroughly. Keep accurate records.
- Thorough knowledge of all disciplines of construction (engineering, estimating, scheduling, contracting and health & safety)
- Proficient communication skills - able to work with diverse personalities and styles
- Excellent customer service skills to promote and foster relationships with existing and potential customers and industry associates.
- Above average competence with MS Office Suite of products including Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Oracle an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent problem solving skills
