**Summary of responsibilities**:
Reporting to the General Manager, New Technology, the Specialist, Screening Technology is responsible for providing advice and guidance to improve screening processes, and operational and technological efficiency of screening technologies. The Specialist, Screening Technology performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
**What you need to succeed**
**To qualify for the position, you must have**:
- Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering, Physics or other specialization relevant to the requirements of the job;
- A minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience as a professional Engineer or Researcher in a line of work related to the duties of the position;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a security, technical or operational environment;
- Knowledge of security screening technologies;
- Experience with the development of technical and functional requirements for new technology;
- Experience conducting lab and operational tests/trials;
- Knowledge of IT networking technologies;
- Knowledge of research methodologies and best practices;
- Experience in project management and scheduling; knowledge of project management tools and methodologies;
- Experience with simulation software;
- Experience developing various types of models used to assess complex problems;
- Experience liaising with various stakeholders and coordinating the work of cross-functional teams;
- Experience presenting to various audiences and producing reports for senior management.

- Ability to design technology test plans and evaluations to prove new technology;
- Ability to troubleshoot;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Ability to translate complex technology issues into a clear and concise easy to understand language;
- Ability to clearly articulate point of view to various audiences both orally and in writing; liaise and persuade effectively;
- Strong teamwork orientation;
- Meticulous and thorough;
- Ability to multi-task and identify priorities; strong organizational skills.
**Valuable skills include**:
- Experience conducting research in a technical field;
- Knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, and airport baggage systems;
- Knowledge of certification requirements for HBS systems;
- Knowledge of contract and budget management;
**Specific work requirements**
- Ability to work overtime as required;
- Ability to travel as required;
- Language Profile: English Essential;
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance;
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
