Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services has an exciting summer opportunity for students in the field of Mental Health Services. If you are a student between the ages of 15 and 30, who is preparing to return to school in September, and would like to gain experience working with a progressive community based organization, this opportunity may be for you
You are a team player with great interpersonal skills and a desire to learn. You are patient, kind and proactive, adept at solving problems. You have excellent graphic design skills, excellent writing skills and a strong desire to serve your community and make a difference in people’s lives. You are helpful and
tech savvy. You are able to work with people from all walks of life with kindness and respect. Involved in the the day-to-day planning, implementation and evaluation of assigned Mental Health programs. The Summer Student will work to encourage and support member involvement in programs and services offered at the Club.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
Must have attended school full time and be returning to school full time in the fall.
Preference to post-secondary students.
Preferred experience working with persons with a chronic and persistent psychiatric illness.
Preferred training in social group work, recreation, life skills, and psychosocial rehabilitation.

This position is full-time for eight weeks, beginning in May, and is full-time, Monday - Friday (35 hours per week). The hourly rate is $18.75 per hour.

**REQUIRED SKILLS (Knowledge and Skills)**:
Excellent organizing and prioritizing skills.
Must be willing to work as part of a team and practice Team Approach.
Preference to those with First Aid/CPR and Food Safe.
Preference to those with experience with Mental Health or a desire to enter the field.
Empower others to grow and change.
Conviction that the individual has the capacity to grow and change.
Ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served to help them gain skills and
confidence.
