**Job Summary**

The Sheet Metal Journeyperson is responsible for independently fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and systems, including HVAC ducts, roofing components, and other custom metalwork. This position requires a high level of skill and precision, ensuring all installations meet industry and safety standards. The Journeyperson also guides apprentices and collaborates with team members on large projects.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Fabrication and Installation**: Measure, cut, and form sheet metal materials based on blueprints and project specifications.
- **Custom Metalwork**: Design and create custom metal components as needed for specific projects, including specialized fittings for HVAC systems.
- **Blueprint Interpretation**: Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project documentation to plan efficient layouts and installations.
- **System Assembly**: Install HVAC ductwork, metal roofing, exhaust systems, and other sheet metal components securely and according to project requirements.
- **Safety and Compliance**: Maintain a safe work environment, follow industry safety standards, and comply with local and national building codes.
- **Quality Assurance**: Inspect completed work to ensure all installations and repairs meet quality and durability standards.
- **Troubleshooting and Repair**: Diagnose issues in existing sheet metal installations and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- **Team Collaboration**: Communicate effectively with supervisors, other tradespeople, and apprentices; provide training and support to apprentices to develop their skills.

**Qualifications**
- **Education**: Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent certification as a Sheet Metal Journeyperson.
- **Skills**:

- Proficient in operating sheet metal equipment, such as shears, brakes, and welding tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong ability to interpret and follow complex blueprints and technical specifications.
- Good communication skills for teamwork and mentoring apprentices.
- Knowledgeable in relevant safety standards and building codes.

**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to [insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs].
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physical stamina for standing, crouching, and climbing as necessary on job sites.
