**Position Overview**

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Environmental Manager is an experienced, senior role within the branch. This position’s primary responsibility is to manage and oversee the operations of the environmental department. The Environmental Manager role is a significant generator of revenue for the branch. This position manages environmental jobs; high risk, high exposure and complex abatement jobs, from start to finish. The role completes all estimating for environmental projects, generates blueprints and / or drawings, and supervises the operations of the workforce until the end of the project. This position
- communicates professionally with customers, subcontractors and insurance companies providing technical explanation and feedback.

**Job Duties**
- Manages and oversees the operations of the Environmental Department; environmental projects; residential, commercial, industrial and Institutions.
- Manages and Supervises environmental remediation/ abatement of asbestos, mold, lead, fungal and bio-hazard contaminants according to provincial legislation
- Manages the effectiveness and efficiency of the environmental division through continuous improvement in operational policies and procedures
- Oversees all work related duties in the field
- Supervises, coaches and mentors Project Managers and Field Managers in the environmental division
- Improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the environmental division with communication to all employees regarding the roll out and support of initiatives from (Operations, Human Resources, Health and Safety, Marketing and Sales)
- Reviews and ensures scope of work is being followed as per quoting process to ensure accurate timelines and project budgets are achieved.
- Attend all site meetings as required to initiate and maintain the proper management liaison between customer, general contractor and subcontractors
- Provide technical explanations to clients, adjusters, consultants and others
- Within the environmental division, identify staffing requirements, contribute to the interview
- and hiring process, and assist with hands-on training
- Review health and safety compliance for all projects
- Secure applicable permits are in place, and meet with inspectors as required
- Required to participate in the on-call rotation, coordinating after hours emergency services
- Attend industry conferences, meetings and training seminars for continual growth and development of networks
- Provide excellent customer service
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
- Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information
- Will practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite
- Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
- Comply with all **Belfor** policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements
- Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person
- Attend all **Belfor** sponsored training courses

**Responsibilities**
- **Human Resources**: Maintain employee confidentiality and performance management by coaching leading, mentoring and motivating employees.
- **Safety**: Verify all **Belfor **documents are completed accurately; maintaining employee records and compliance; ensuring compliance of all employees and subcontractors with local laws and **Belfor **policy at all **Belfor** locations and job sites.
- **Accountability**: Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance, ensuring accuracy and documentation.
- **Communication**: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with our staff and customers, both verbal and written.
- **Leadership**: Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports.
- **Time Management**: Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.

**Qualifications**
- 5+ years’ experience in the environmental industry experience and 3+ years in a leadership role preferred
- In
- depth knowledge and understanding of the asbestos abatement industry and services; Asbestos Abatement Worker
- and Supervisor courses
- IICRC Certification for Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT), Commercial Carpet Maintenance (CCM), Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT), Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FST), Odor Control Technician (OCT),
- Health and Safety Technician (HST)
- Hazmat Operations Technician
- Certificate of Recognition (COR) Internal Auditor
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of WCB
- In
- depth knowledge of Crime and Trauma Scene Clean up
- In depth knowledge of Infectious Control during construction in health care facilities
