**What you’ll do**:
- Cleaning, decontaminating, and preparing medical instruments and equipment for further processing
- Ensuring the sterilization of medical instruments through a variety of techniques, such as washing/disinfecting, steam sterilizing, to make them safe for patient use
- Properly disinfecting instruments using appropriate methods and/or solutions to eliminate harmful microorganisms
- Conducting quality control checks to confirm that sterilization and disinfection processes are effective, and instruments are safe for use
- Regularly maintains and troubleshoots MDR equipment and machinery to ensure it is in good working order
- Ensures that biomedical checks are performed on MDR equipment following the schedule set out by GraceMed policy
- Monitors inventory of medical instruments and supplies to ensure an adequate stock is maintained
- Maintaining very accurate records of the reprocessing activities, including but not limited to sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and quality control checks
- May be required to assist Recovery Room Nurses with discharge transfer of patients after a surgical procedure
**What you will bring along**:
- Successful completion of one of the following:
- Community College Sterilization and Reprocessing Certificate course, or
- Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario Certificate, or
- Online course for Medical Device Reprocessing in Community Healthcare Settings + training on the MDR equipment from the manufacturer/ vendor
- At least one year of experience working as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician
- Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Personnel Certification (CMDRT) will be considered an asset
- Proficient in the correct operation of all reprocessing equipment
- Knowledge of instruments and instrument technology
- Thorough knowledge of cleaning, decontamination, sterilization procedures and methods
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task
