_**Overview**:_
The Town of Gananoque is looking for a dynamic individual to serve as a Deputy Treasurer. The incumbent serves as an ambassador of the Town providing guidance and direction to the public, elected officials, and employees of the Town on matters relating to financial policies and directives.
- **Duties & Responsibilities**:_
- Provides Leadership, Support, and Backfill for all Finance Team Staff, including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Utility Billing & Collection, and Property Tax Billing & Collection.
- Assists the Treasurer in the efficient and effective implementation of any financial programs and policies established by Council, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory requirements.
- Monthly Monitoring of the Balance Sheet Accounts, including Tax, Utility, Payroll and Accounts Receivable Subledgers.
- Reviews, approves, and releases file transfers for Accounts Payable & Payroll.
- Prepares and Files the Quarterly HST Return.
- Ability to prepare various monthly, annual, and periodic internal and external financial reports and analysis as directed by the Treasurer.
- Ability to prepare working papers as directed by the Treasurer to ensure the annual audited statements are performed as efficiently and effectively as possible.
- Responsible for composing and distributing correspondence on routine matters requiring knowledge of departmental operations and regulations using standardized formats.
- Acts as lead Treasury Supervisor in the absence of the Treasurer and advises the Treasurer of any emergencies requiring immediate attention.
- Other duties as assigned by the treasurer.
- **Required Qualifications & Competencies**:_
- Post-Secondary education with an emphasis on accounting, or equivalent.
- Completion of or enrollment in the Municipal Administration Program, and or Municipal Accounting and Finance program, would be considered an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience in municipal administration and/or accounting, including experience with administering payroll, taxation, utility billing, accounts receivable, and accounts Payable.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, research, communication skills; and have excellent English oral and written skills.
- Possessing a working knowledge of the following programs would be considered an asset: Vadim iCity, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc), Outlook, TOMRMS, Online Banking, and Filehold.The 2024 annual salary range is $72,207 to $85,970 based on a 35-hour workweek.
