Job Summary

A Cuna Railway Labourer/Trackman will assist the Supervisor in the safe execution of daily railroad maintenance.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operates equipment and tools required to perform maintenance and repairs required. Tools and Equipment include Backhoe, Brush Hog, Gas Trimmer, Rail Saw, Power Wrench, Rail Drill, Backpack Snow Blower and all hand tools. 
- Prepares equipment and materials for work to be performed.
- Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
- Performs equipment safety and maintenance checks.
- Repairs and maintains equipment, making emergency adjustments as necessary.
- Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
- Winter duties include cleaning railway switches, snow removal and track repairs as needed.
- Summer duties include lubricating switches, cutting vegetation, clearing ditches, maintenance, repairs and construction on customer site as required.
- Assist Foreman in identifying potential areas of required maintenance - Quality control.
- Hours of work would be a base of 32 hours per week, 06:00 to 14:00 Monday to Thursday. During winter months, December to April, additional work may be required from Friday to Sunday depending on the weather. On call work is required if issues are pending/occur.
- Adhere to other duties assigned by the Foreman.

**Qualifications**:

- Railway experience will be considered an asset but not necessary.
- Must have a valid class G driver’s license.
- Must have own reliable transportation to and from Rayonier Advanced Materials, 33 Chem. Kipawa, Temiscaming, QC.
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and training.
- Must work well with others.
- Ability to take and follow instructions.
- Must be adaptable to any situation.
- Must be reliable.

**Salary**: $25.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
