As part of SNC-Lavalin’s Engineering Services Canada Division (Civil TPO - Technical Professional Organization), the Vancouver based Ports and Marine Group is the company’s centre of excellence for Port, Terminal & Coastal Infrastructure. The Group specializes in desktop, pre-feasibility, feasibility, basic engineering, pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design engineering and construction management consulting services to support the development and repair of marine terminal facilities. We provide a full range of engineering services to local, national and international clients though our internal Transportation, Cities & Development Business Units. Working closely with other SNC-Lavalin divisions, we offer value added services to the company’s large client base, and we are a key component of SNC-Lavalin’s ability to offer full pit-to-port service.

In response to exciting new business opportunities (both in Canada and abroad) and an ever expanding client base, we are currently recruiting for our Group based in Vancouver, BC.

The Ports and Marine Group is looking for a Team Lead, Marine Structures - Western Canada to join our team. We are looking for an industry professional with the long-term drive, ambition and potential to develop and progress within our organization.

Reporting to the Canadian Civil TPO Director of Ports & Marine Infrastructure, the successful applicant will work alongside other discipline managers and leads and be responsible for coordinating the operations of the Marine Structures Department within the Group.

**How will you contribute to the team?**

To perform this role successfully, the Team Lead, Marine Structures will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

- Coordinating commitments of the Marine Structures Department (in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget and procedures) to ensure successful project completion.
- Resolving overall design/project execution issues, as required.
- Establishing and implementing improvements to existing methods, procedures and toolsets.
- Coordinating the departmental resource assignment for an appropriate projects staffing while ensuring continuous career development for staff.
- Recruiting new team members, assisting with performance reviews, performance management, and facilitating training and development opportunities.
- Providing mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to marine structure engineers to ensure the technical adequacy of all engineering work.
- Participating in or leading the preparation of estimates and project proposals (or coordinating resources to do so) and approving the estimates for Marine Structures Engineering.
- Approving the cost and schedule impacts on behalf of Marine Structures Engineering for all projects change notices.
- Participating in engineering strategic planning activities.
- Maintaining good working relationships with internal stakeholders, the management team, and clients.
- Ensuring that all employees in the group are properly qualified and trained to perform their work.
- Managing select projects and leading a multi-discipline team through all project phases including concept planning, feasibility studies, detailed designs, EPCM and EPC type port and marine projects.
- Interfacing with clients, including making technical and commercial presentations.

**What will you contribute?**
- An undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution. A post graduate qualification in port planning, structural engineering or related field is a definite asset.
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience with an engineering consultant or other large organization, with a minimum of 5 years ports and maritime related project experience in Canada or overseas.
- Registration as a professional engineer with EGBC (P.Eng).
- Supervisory background and proven leadership skills, with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients.
- Fluency in the English language. Capabilities in French and/or Spanish are a definite asset.
- Self motivation and be results oriented, with a strong client focus and the ability to manage multiple priorities and time lines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with superior interpersonal and relationship management, presentation and “client facing” skills.
- Working experience within multi-disciplinary projects and teams as a leader who can motivate and engage team members.
