Chemical Technician

Hamilton, Canada GFL Environmental Inc. Full time

GFL is looking for a Full-Time Chemical Technician to help support our operations in Hamilton, ON. As a Chemical Technician, your primary role is to sort and repack chemical hazardous waste within the facility. This position report to the Operations Manager and is represented by the Teamsters Local Union No. 879. This is a night shift position, working hours are from 12:00am to 8:00am.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Classify, test (i.e. oxidation or pH) and determine chemical groups collected through our household hazardous and industrial waste collection programs
- Bulk inorganic and organic materials for shipment
- Sort and bulk pesticides for shipment
- Conduct inventory counts, label and prepare containers for shipment
- Work safely at all times by adhering to company policies, rules and procedures regarding health and safety
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Knowledge, Skills, Competencies**
- Successful completion of a University or College program with a focus on Chemistry or equivalent industry experience
- Previous experience working in an industrial setting is preferred
- Valid G class Driver’s license is an asset
- Previous forklift experience is also considered an asset but is not required
