The Alberta Teachers' Association, as the professional organization of teachers, promotes and advances public education, safeguards standards of professional practice and serves as the advocate for its members.

The Alberta Teachers’ Association requires a Graphics Assistant who, under the direction and supervision of the Document Production Manager, assists with graphic design work, performs desktop publishing services, assists in the management and maintenance of centralized documents, and completes special projects and other duties as assigned. Specifically, this position is responsible for:

- Handling layout of Association publications;
- Creating various graphs and charts as required;
- Preparing documents for digital printing;
- Handling large format printing and banner installation;
- Providing support to graphic design staff by assisting with design, concepts and layout of materials, as assigned;
- Maintaining and organizing publication files, vector files and photo files;
- Posting documents and information on the provincial website; and
- Providing backup to the Document Production Assistant, as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a graphics-related certificate and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a graphics assistant in a graphics design environment;
- Experience with web content management systems
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop);
- Knowledge of established standards of graphic and design layout rules, and formatting documents;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Strong keyboarding and proofreading skills and proficiency in punctuation and grammar;
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and customer service skills; and
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and organize work to ensure deadlines are met.

**Salary**:This position offers a competitive starting salary of $59,371 to a maximum of $74,337 after three years plus a full range of employer-paid benefits.

**Hours of Work**:35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
