Standard General Edmonton is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Foreman to join us on the Yellowhead project

The Foreman is responsible for organizing and delegating the day-to-day tasks of crew personnel and equipment on a freeway conversion project with the goal of optimizing work hours, as well as to direct and monitor production and activities of field personnel ensuring safety, quality, expediency, and accuracy of job tasks.

Mechanically inclined with knowledge and experience working with heavy equipment, conveyors, aggregate handling systems, and experience with rail is considered an asset.

**Duties/Tasks**
- Positively participating in Goal Zero initiatives, including adhering to the Defined Activities for the position
- Responsible for understanding, supporting, promoting and leading all aspects of the company safety program, initiatives, regulations, laws and codes for his/her area of responsibility
- Maintaining a safe and clean worksite
- Organizing daily crew activities to achieve production goals
- Organizing and developing work schedules in conjunction with Superintendent
- Communicating daily with Superintendent outlining daily progress and identifying potential challenges, scheduling conflicts, and solutions
- Coaching, mentoring and managing performance of direct reports
- Completing staff action forms, EEPs, worker/operator competency forms, incident reports, etc. as needed
- Monitoring construction activities to ensure minimization of waste
- Recording and submitting daily time records and field quantities (in HeavyJob)
- Other duties as required

**Knowledge/Skills**
- Knowledge of Prime Contractor obligations, as well as relevant OH&S legislation.
- Must be able to plan ahead, make rational decisions, and perform well under strict deadlines.
- Must have strong regard for ethics.
- Should be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Should be team-oriented with the ability to work independently.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and teach others.
- Must have a strong work ethic.
- Should have good vision, stamina, hand-eye coordination, and ability to estimate size and dimensions.
- Must be willing to lead and promote the Organization.
- Should have a calm and professional demeanor.
- Must have strong basic mathematical skills.

**Experience/Education**
- High school diploma and relevant field experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of company policies, procedures, union agreements, and safety legislation required.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent) required.
- RSTS and First Aid certification required.

**Working Conditions**
- Adherence to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies (including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and Occupational Health testing) is required.
- Alertness and ability to work safely around moving road construction equipment is required at all times.
- Travel between local job sites as necessary.
- Overtime, evenings, and weekends as necessary.
- Potential operation of vehicles and/or equipment as necessary.
- Work outdoors in a dusty and noisy construction environment, in adverse weather conditions as necessary.
