**Job purpose**

Reporting to the Supervisor, Activity Workers plan, develop, and implement recreational, social, and/or educational activities for children/youth with diverse abilities. The job strives to create a fun and enjoyable atmospheres in order to encourage participation in program and community activities.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Help to ensure that the social, recreational and support needs of the children are met.
- Implement activities that follow the child’s support plan, MACL program standards, guidelines, and policies.
- May participate in the development of individual plans for participants as needed.
- Encourage and facilitate the participation of individuals in the program by creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere in order to enhance the program’s appeal to participants.
- Provide different levels of support, including personal care where required
- Maintain awareness of any problems (medical, behavioural, or other) experienced by participants and informs the Supervisor as applicable.
- Maintain appropriate records and statistics and ensures that all required documentation is accurate and complete (e.g., incident reports, daily log sheets,).
- Model appropriate behaviour and dress appropriately for the specific program needs.
- Inform the Supervisor as applicable of any problems or concerns regarding participants or program operations.
- Adhere to program policies, procedures, and other protocols from training and team meetings.
- Ongoing evaluation and timely documentation of client progress activities.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
- Ensure that the program site is safe and clean during all activities and that supplies, etc. are put away after programs.
- May be assigned to lead groups or do one-to-one work as appropriate.
- Other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Education in related human/social service field preferred.
- One (1) year or more of successful experience in working with individuals with extra support needs
- Able to respond to various medical issues
- Knowledge of positive behaviour supports and appropriate response to aggressive behaviour
- Clear criminal record check
- Current drivers abstract
- Covid-19 Vaccination
- Valid Basic First Aid Certificate
- Physicians report
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Vehicle insured to use for work purposes

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $21.63-$26.20 per hour
