Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI) is looking to hire 2 Black Youth Mentorship Program Coordinators. The program delivers one-to-one mentorship and group mentorship opportunities, targeting Black youth aged 12-25 through a collective impact and Cultural Identity approach. The Black Youth Mentorship Program Coordinators will mainly work from HCCI’s office at 423 King St E, Hamilton, ON. However, the role will require occasional travel to fulfill the responsibilities of the role, such as visits to schools. As such, a G2 licence or above is an asset.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in a Social Science, and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in program coordination, community engagement, outreach, and youth development.
- Demonstrated capacity to work with youth (12- 25 yrs) and adults from diverse communities, especially Black communities in Hamilton.
- French language communication is a strong asset and priority.
- Experience in a non-profit setting is an asset.
- Experience working with volunteers, and with equity-deserving groups/communities.
- Experience in program coordination, implementation and consensus/collective approaches to problem-solving.
- Deep understanding of anti-racism and anti-oppression framework.
- Good presentation and group facilitation skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of issues of anti-Black racism, strong Black cultural awareness and demonstrated commitment to working with marginalized communities and promoting inclusion.
- Some knowledge of the Black communities and resources in Hamilton.
- Good understanding and/or experience with community-based initiatives.
- Teamwork, organizational and coordination skills.
- Able to work with a mínimal amount of supervision.
- Computer word-processing, database, and Internet skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

**Responsibilities**:

- Recruitment, Outreach and Promotion_
- Conduct outreach and produce promotional material to recruit and attract youth participants, targeting Black youth aged 12-25.
- Conduct outreach to recruit adult and peer mentors;
- Use appropriate traditional and digital engagement and outreach strategies and tools.
- Program Coordination, Record Keeping and Reporting_
- Oversee and coordinate specialized mentor and mentee training and orientation sessions.
- Coordinate mentor/mentee matching process following appropriate policies and procedures in place;
- Keep accurate, current records of participants;
- Support mentees to articulate their own program outcomes to maintain and track progress towards goals;
- Coordinate youth groups and engagement sessions with BYMP participants;
- Utilize positive youth development and youth organizing principles to guide the work, using an anti-Black racism framework;
- Address and report any concerns about mentor/mentee conduct or conflict;
- Provide regular updates to senior staff;
- Oversee and coordinate regular outings and activities for BYMP participants;
- Maintain and expand relationships with partner organizations;
- Maintain and report program metrics in accordance with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services’ requirements by implementing and executing program evaluations and meeting all deliverables.
- Collaboration and partnerships_
- Participate in team meetings with program staff;
- Refer youth to external resources as needed;
- Collaborate with program staff and other partners to identify resources for the needs of youth in the program.

**Other Responsibilities**
- Participate in the coordination of all logístical aspects of the youth mentorship program;
- Identifying and maintaining relationships with organizations that further the mission of the mentorship program and partnerships;
- Oversee the Black Youth Mentorship Podcast.
