**Based at: Survival Systems Training Ltd, Dartmouth, NS**
**Job purpose**:
Ability to assist the Lead Firefighting Instructor with delivery of training.

**Managed by**: Training & Operations Manager
Overview
This is a full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week position with deployments. Duties and responsibilities are conducted in the office/classroom, fire training school, or simulation device (OSTRM) and out-of-country environments.
**Major Duties**:
- Instruction (Practical and Theoretical)
- Maintenance
- Recharging extinguishers
- Record keeping
- Purchasing equipment / supplies
- Cleaning equipment / facilities
- Safety person
**Key accountabilities**:
- Trainee safety
- Assisting the delivery of course in accordance with applicable standards
**Authorization**:
- Safety of trainees
**Hazards associated with this position**:
- Exposure to extreme cold, compressed gases, noise, heat, height, and fire
- Risk for burns, dehydration, and respiratory problems
**General Functions**:
- Provide stand-by safety for live fires
- Operate propane system
- Assist trainees to achieve course objectives
- Demonstrate safe work practices
- Maintain all firefighting gear including: recharging extinguishers, cleaning gear, and facilities.
- Purchase equipment through appropriate channels
- Record equipment
**Entry Level Criteria**:
- Two years’ experience as a firefighter
- Level I firefighting certification
- Experience in the Offshore/Marine Industry a definite asset
**Success Criteria**:
To be successful in this position, this person is required to:
- Ensure that the trainee receives valuable training that will enhance their ability to work safely in a firefighting environment
- Self-sufficient and able to conduct all aspects of the program with supervision

**Salary**: From $22.00 per hour
