About the role:
Within Loan Syndications and as a part of the Structured Banking team:

- The Associate will support all aspects of the loan syndications (origination, execution and coverage) offering across Canada.
- The role will involve supporting relationship managers with market intelligence, structuring and distributing syndicated deals where HSBC acts as lead.
- The Associate will support preparing financial / operating analysis, reviewing financial modeling, preparing pitch books and marketing materials, and managing relationships with other market participants (participant banks and other syndication desks).

**Responsibilities**:

- The role holder will support the execution of business objectives to drive revenue and achieve Annual Operating Plan targets and key performance indicators, whilst building a sustainable business model.
- Collaborate effectively with others across a variety of groups both internally and outside the firm to contribute to continued servicing of customer needs and deepening existing relationships.
- Work closely with Structured Banking personnel & Relationship Management teams to structure and deliver innovative credit solutions for new and existing customers.
- Monitor and report key metrics for sales and associated activities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and perform to the highest standards, and promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
- Be an ambassador for HSBC and further enhance the bank’s profile in the Loan Syndications segment.
- Participate in internal and external business events, road shows and seminars as required by the business.
- Ensure quality service for all customers by owning customer engagement and ensuring service excellence at all times, for all aspects of any customer, prospect or professional’s interaction with HSBC.
- Build the CMB franchise value/reputation in the market place.
- Drive achievement against targets for revenue generation, new business, client retention, customer satisfaction and cost management.
- Contribute to the building of a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture.
- Establish and maintain networks for co-operation with other HSBC businesses, to support the creation of solutions to customer needs that span geographical/product boundaries and regulatory environments.
Requirements

- BA/MA in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related fields
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in corporate banking / syndicated lending / credit structuring
- Strong analytical background and financial modelling skills
- Credit and risk assessment skills
- Proven track record in a client-focused environment
- Strong prioritising, planning and time management abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Commercial Banking and Global Banking and Markets products and services, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas
- Strategic thinker with ability to assess debt capacity, credit risk and sales opportunities
- Enthusiasm to drive and grow the business
