**ROLE**
As a Laboratory Clerk you will;
- Greet and receive clients arriving at Collection Lab.
- Enter patient demographics, test information as provided on the original requisition into database, print collection labels.
- Prioritize clients where necessary for the lab assistants to call clients for their collection
- Receive non-blood specimens for processing.
- Answer telephone, faxing, filing, photocopying.
- Book appointments for clients requiring Holter Monitoring.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Maintain filing system for Standing Order Requisition.
- Assist with ordering of supplies where necessary.
- Assist with tabulation of daily, monthly collection information.
**REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)**
- Secondary school diploma.
- Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course.
**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)**
- Adequate typing skills (speed and accuracy).
- Filing procedures.
- Excellent keyboarding and computer skills having worked with spreadsheets and word programs.
- General office procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Have a pleasant personality to meet and direct outpatients in the laboratory area and converse with personnel of the Doctor’s Offices.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**
**Location**(s)**: Burks Falls and Multi-Site, working at both our South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.
**Department**:Laboratory
**Hours of Work**: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
**As a condition of employment**, **external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.
