- Ensure park visitor safety through the implementation of the Regional and Community Parks compliance programs.
- Provide compliance and enforcement services using public education and persuasion techniques.
- Respond and investigate public complaints and incidents and resolve recurring offences as well as handle escalated issues identified by other Parks staff relating to conflict, enforcement, and infraction situations in RDCO parks.
- Conduct investigations regarding park encroachments and trespasses.
- Maintains copies of investigations and statistics pertaining to enforcement, education and compliance and prepare and deliver written and verbal reports to colleagues and the RDCO Board.
- Assist in the preparation of cases for trial and prosecution in court on behalf of the RDCO and as assigned, testify for the RDCO in legal proceedings and consult with legal counsel.
- Collaborate and cooperate with other regulatory agencies and local government organizations to gain compliance with all applicable regulations and laws on RDCO parkland.
- Collaborate and cooperate with user groups, volunteers, park ambassadors and community organizations to address park issues specific to RDCO park regulations, public safety and security.
- Assist in the development, coordination and delivery of Regional Parks Emergency Response and Evacuation Plans as well as the delivery of Regional Parks Wildlife Human Conflict Prevention Plan.
- Undertake routine park operations and maintenance duties, including garbage removal and cleaning washrooms, facilities and infrastructure.
- Conduct park and facility safety and condition inspections on a regularly scheduled basis, including playground inspections and risk assessments.
- Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you must have a minimum of one year experience in Parks, or an equivalent public sector environment, enforcing bylaws and regulations, including attending hearings and giving testimony. You will have a Diploma in Parks or Environmental Conservation Resource Management, Bylaw Compliance Enforcement and Investigations Level 1, Certificate in Risk Management Inspections of Playgrounds and Play Spaces (CPSI), Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), WHMIS, First Aid Level 1 and a valid BC Driver's License. Additionally, you will have demonstrable skills in investigations, Wildlife ? Human Conflict Management, Indigenous cultural site awareness, MS office and GIS programs.

This is a CUPE 338 position that works Sunday to Thursday, 40 hours per week. Shifts will vary from 6:30am to 3:00pm, 10:00am to 6:30pm, 1:00pm to 9:30pm and 2:30pm to 11:00pm based on the time of year; flexibility is required to meet operational requirements. This position pays $35.67 per hour.
