The 2SLGBTQIA+Mental Health Counsellors provide single session/brief narrative focused therapy specifically to individuals within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community as well as the general public. The 2SLGBTQIA+Mental Health Counsellors strives to help clients develop new knowledge and skills, and find resilience and hope within a by the community for the community framework.

These positions and are part of the Counselling Connect initiative which provides same day/next day access to single session counselling for individuals in Ottawa and the surrounding region.

**Requirements**:
Essential
- Masters of Social Work, or Masters of Education (Counselling) or equivalent degree.
- Registered or eligible for registration with CCAP or OASW/OCSWSSW/ or the College of Psychotherapy.
- Minimum of two (2) years counselling experience.
- Experience in short-term, single session, strength-based, narrative counselling approaches.
- High sensitivity to psychosocial, social, mental health and health needs of 2SLGBTQIA+clients.
- Experience working with diversity within the 2SLGBTQIA+populations (i.e. 2SLGBTQIA+newcomers/refugees; trans clients)
- Knowledge of mental health issues and system/resources.
- Crisis intervention skills.
- Knowledge of anti-oppressive framework
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible schedule.
- Ability to work well independently.
- Is part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and comfortable working within the community framework

Ces postes font parties de l’initiative counseling connect qui offre un accès de consultation sans rendez-vous actuellement le jour même ou bien le jour suivant dans toute la ville et de la région environnante.

**Qualités**:
Essentielles
- Maîtrise en travail social ou en éducation (orientation), ou grade équivalent.
- Membre de l’ACCP, de l’ATTSO ou de l’OTSTTSO, ou de l’Ordre des psychothérapeutes autorisés de l’Ontario, ou admissible à ce statut.
- Minimum de deux (2) ans d’expérience en counseling.
- Expérience dans l’utilisation des approches de counseling à court terme, individuel, axé sur les forces et axé sur le récit.
- Grande sensibilité aux besoins psychosociaux et sociaux des clients2SLGBTQIA+, ainsi qu’à leurs besoins en santé et en santé mentale.
- Expérience de travail avec la diversité au sein des populations 2SLGBTQIA+ (c.à-d. Les nouveaux arrivants/réfugiés 2SLGBTQIA+; clients Trans)
- Connaissance des questions de santé mentale, du système et des ressources.
- Compétences en intervention d’urgence.
- Connaissance du cadre anti-oppressive
- Excellente capacité à communiquer oralement et par écrit.
- Horaire Flexible.
- Capacité à travailler de manière autonome
- Fait partie de la communauté 2SLGBTQIA+ et est à l’aise de travailler dans cette cadre communautaire.
