**Sitkum Consulting Ltd**. is a medium-sized geotechnical services consulting firm established in 2000 and based out of Nelson B.C. Sitkum serves clients throughout B.C. in the natural resource sector with an emphasis on terrain stability assessments in the forest sector, aggregate extraction relating to highway infrastructure, natural hazards risk analysis, as well as landscape-based terrain mapping.

**GIS Technician Duties**:

- **Map Production**: Acquiring and visualizing spatial data for thepreparation of digital field maps. Be able to translate, integrate and create data for report figures using ESRI ArcGIS software. Mapping deliverables are graphic and descriptive products reflecting geotechnical observations and recommendations.
- **Geospatial Analysis**: Working with LiDAR datasets to produce various mapping layers for use in the field and office, as well as basic statistical analysis of varied datasets relating to baseline and development data.
- **Design**: Resource road and gravel pit development mapping and geometric designs using a combination of MicroStation, ArcGIS, and Softree RoadEng software (some software training is expected).

Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro) is required. Familiarity with Softree RoadEng, Microstation Connect, Global Mapper, Land Resource Manager, Google Earth, Avenza Maps and MS Office suite is an asset for this position, along with the ability to work independently and having forestry-related experience.

Sitkum will provide on-the-job training to augment an employee’s existing skill set as required for the above-listed duties. Training is to begin in the company office with the option to work from home (in the Nelson area) once proven proficient at tasks.

**Work Schedule**:
The anticipated work schedule is full time (40 hours weekly). Actual hours are conditional on work availability. Sitkum prides itself on being a flexible employer with respect to scheduling.

**Summary of Compensation and Benefits**:
Salary to be commensurate with experience and training requirements.

Employees are entitled to overtime compensation, holiday pay, and sick leave.

Salary will be paid for up to three days per annum for Continuing Education (professional development) purposes in support of membership requirements in a professional association, provided that maintaining the membership is relevant to the duties of the Employee.

Membership dues will be reimbursed for one professional association up to a maximum of $500 per year, provided that the membership is relevant to the duties of the Employee.

A Private Health Services Plan (PHSP) is offered through Hub Financial, allowing reimbursement of up to $1500 annually for eligible personal health expenses.
