**CNC MACHINIST**

**PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB**:
To operate designated machines and machine details, providing high quality machining that meets company and customer requirements in a timely and cost-efficient way.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. Receive “Line-up” (working from Instructions, Drawings, Models, Samples and Sketches) Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specs or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances.

2. Operate machines in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all company safety policies and procedures.

3. Informs management, tooling and other departments of assignments

4. Maintain a clean and organized work area

5. Perform assigned machine maintenance, resolves machining issues as required.

6. Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and makes adjustments as needed.

7. Create efficient and effective programs for the specific machining tasks.

8. Create purchase requisitions for material and supplies used in the Machining Department

9. Evaluate and make recommendations regarding methods and procedures in assigned areas.

10. Perform other individual activities as required and directed by the Supervisor or Plant Manager.

11. Maintain the professional competence, knowledge, skills and tools necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

**QUALFICATIONS**
- High School diploma
- Completion of 4-year apprenticeship program or a combination of work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in machining
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines

**SKILLS**:

- _Knowledge, experience in reading Machine drawings
- Knowledge, experience in the use of small mills, grinders, drills and saws.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions

*Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with other Leaders, Managers, employees.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Basic math skills for the purpose of calculating material fabrication
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Works from specifications, drawings, manuals, sketches and verbal instructions
- Applies an extensive practical experience and knowledge base to develop alternatives and solutions to difficult and unusual machinery problems and assignments
- Ensures adequate and continuous controls and exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change and delays
- Ability to make 2D & 3D programs

**OTHER**:

- Shift work required. Additional overtime required as necessary.
