Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a **Health, Safety and Environment Systems Specialist**.

The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Systems Specialist is a critical role focusing on the coordination of the department’s essential programs and facilitation of continual improvement. It supports the HSE team by ensuring compliance to the Business Management Model, the HSE Management System, and is the key contact for internal and external auditing activities conducted within the department. It communicates and collaborates with JDI and ISI departments as necessary to ensure completion of essential tasks and actions related to Health, Safety and/or Environment.

**Qualifications**:

- Education Required: Occupational Health and Safety certificate
- Experience: 3-5 years in an HSE Coordinator or Specialist role
- Enhanced knowledge of document control programs
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate the timely review of HSE documentation, ensuring alignment between internal policy and legislation
- Manage internal and external audit preparation in relation to the HSE requirements
- Support the HSE team in completion of internal auditing
- Act as the point of contact for the Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) Committee for all ISI business locations
- Support the collaboration and legislative obligations of the ISI JOHS committees
- Support HSE in the facilitation of continual improvement initiatives, including the utilization of Lean-Six-Sigma techniques
- Manage HSE internal training, including the coordination of professional development sessions and documenting internal training records
- Support HSE in its auditing function by managing auditing results and presenting data/findings where applicable
- Calculate HSE statistics and incident trends utilizing various input system
