Currently, our Quality division has a Quality Technician II opportunity. The Quality division is working safely, ensuring standards and requirements are met, and identifying gaps in performance through independent oversight and continuous improvement, to support safe operations and project excellence.

The Quality Technician II is instrumental in ensuring a world-class support service to deliver Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) of various site components and systems using radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, visual or other methods. Carry out surveillance of site welding activities. Use and maintain NDE instruments & equipment.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?- Perform NDE as qualified in at least four of the following inspection methods: Perform NDE as qualified in at least four of the following inspection methods: Radiography, Ultrasonics, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle for which a current CAN/CGSB-48.9712 certificate must be held. Certification in Eddy Current is not a priority but may be considered to meet certification requirements on a case-by-case basis. CGSB certificates must be held at Level II. CSA W178.2 (Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Level II may be considered equivalent to one CGSB Level II certification. Similarly, The ISO 9712 certification for Phased Array Ultrasonics (PCN and CSWIP) may be considered equivalent to one CGSB level II certification- The assigned inspection duties will include various pressure boundary components, welds and supports, lifting equipment and other equipment designated using any of the above methods, or Optical/Visual, or other inspection methods. Prepare or assist in the preparation and presentation of detailed inspection reports, including the use of visual aids- Obtain & maintain core qualifications in Bruce Power Pressure Boundary Inspection Program- Conduct Relief Valve Certification - Independent Witness tasks in support of the Quality Program for Testing & Repair of Pressure Relief Valves- Perform NDE to satisfy the CSA standards requirements of in-service periodic inspection programs N285.4, N285.5 and CSA N285.7- Perform weekly performance calibrations, perform inspections and generate inspection reports as required in ultrasonic, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and visual inspection methods. Proficiency demonstration testing to be completed to demonstration the examination personnel’s capability to conduct an examination in accordance with an approved non-destructive examination procedure- Monitor welding activities (including pressure boundary, structural and procedure/welder qualification welds) and the associated documentation to confirm that correct welding procedures and techniques were employed. With general direction, verify that the applicable codes or standards specified are correct- Prepare NDE procedures and techniques to the level of CGSB qualification attained. Produce accurate and effective Techniques to support the various inspections and examinations carried out by Inspection crews- Supported by qualification and experience, provide advice upon request to and liaise with maintenance work groups and contract companies that are involved with work requiring welding and inspections. Items such as material specifications, deficiencies, substitutions, welding procedures, inspection procedures and other matters of concern are examples of this support- Participate in training programs as required to achieve full capability within the various corporate safety and business processes necessary to function in the workgroup and its working environment- Establish contact and working relationship with engineering, maintenance, operations and work management staff.
