The Playroom Lead is zealous about implementing a high-quality children's program for the members of Altea Active and our community. They are responsible for analyzing available programs in the community, inquiring with members about their needs, preparing proposals, suggesting creative marketing techniques, leading program registration, training and supervising a team of at least 10 associates, providing continual development and feedback and being a main point of contact for member communication pertaining to all things within the kids’ programs.

These organized leaders create and maintain a clean, safe and nurturing environment within the kids programs. With their associates they offer a positive, welcoming environment that delivers fun, enriching and socially engaging activities that stimulate children ranging from newborns to 12 years old and address each child's unique needs. They have a passion for being creative by developing play-based, age-appropriate activities and ensuring overall health, safety and the well-being of all children in their care.

These nurturing folks take pride in creating relationships with their associates, parents, children and other departmental Leads and leaders while being mindful and respectful of individual differences. They provide coaching and mentorship to their associates while ensuring continual departmental improvement. They also have a knack for positively promoting and recruiting participants into all kids’ programs within the facility. They effectively utilize the department budget to build and manage the Playroom and Kids Program schedules ensuring revenue targets are achieved.

As a Playroom Lead a typical day might include the following:

- Meeting and greeting a ton of familiar and unfamiliar faces
- Plan, carray out, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the centre’s philosophy
- Observing how children use materials and interact with each other and adults
- Using observations to expand play and plan activities that recognize individual difference
- Ensuring the child’s environment is healthy and safe
- Communicating positively and build trust with parents
- Developing policies and procedures to ensure smooth, consistent execution of programs
- Suggesting and employing creative marketing approaches to maintain program attendance
- Projecting staffing needs and assist with the selection process of new program associates
