For 49 years Renfrew has offered a wide range of programs and services to children from Calgary and surrounding areas.

**Position Summary**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assessment and Therapy Services Department:

- conduct and score various assessments, provide strategies and suggestions to caregivers/parents, teachers, physicians, and other individuals on how to meet the client’s needs, develop behaviour support plans and social stories, and support staff and/or caregivers/parents on the implementation
- work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to plan and carry out programs
- enable and support learning for the child and family members in the school, home, and community
- develop treatment goals, (in collaboration with the Children’s Services team) to assist in determining therapeutic progress
- review therapeutic interventions with parents and staff on a regular basis
- support parents through parenting concerns and challenges, offering resources and strategies from a trauma-informed and strength-based perspective, and focused on parenting skills, decreasing risk factors, increasing protective factors and functional capacity
- provide assessments and counselling according to client needs
- documentation/record keeping: record observations/complete progress notes, document direct/indirect time, write service summary reports or assessment reports, summarize recommendations and monthly kilometers
- consult with funders, partners in the community (as needed)
- Possible travel in Calgary and surrounding areas and must be flexible with working hours of Monday to Thursday, 8:00am-6:00pm and Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, as needed
- Community Services:

- collaborate with school staff and families in supporting student access to curriculum and engagement in school activities
- provide consultation, professional development, team collaboration, and direct intervention across various environments
- therapy intervention may be provided in one-to-one settings, in small groups, in classrooms, and universally in schools
- These services are provided within school districts, independent schools, private ECS programs and other settings in southern Alberta
- Education Programs (EEP):

- working with the team and in collaboration with the teacher to develop strategies, coach and support team members and parents in daily classroom plans. Collaborates with teacher to develop, implement and evaluate Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Psychology and current registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists
- Experience working with children with special needs and their families
- Familiarity with the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists, Code of Professional Conduct, Principles for Psychological Testing, Family Enhancement Act, Mental Health Act, Persons with Disabilities Act
- Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practices
- Experience working in community health or Primary Care Network considered an asset
- A good listener, with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with assessment, intervention, and counseling in numerous areas (psychoeducational, social/emotional, behavioural, Autism, FASD, Learning Disabilities etc.)
- Must have a vehicle, valid Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driving record, and auto insurance with a minimum $2,000,000.00 liability
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
