**The Opportunity**

Reporting directly to the Recreation Coordinator/Recreation Programmer, this casual position is responsible for the delivery of safe and customer-focused aquatics programs. As the Daytime Swim Instructor, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

- Prepare course facilities, teaching material and equipment in accordance with the Town’s objectives. Prepare program outlines, lesson plans and material for participants as required
- Provide program instruction/leadership at the appropriate skill level of participants. Start and end programs on time
- Maintain visual contact with all participants including volunteers assisting with swimming lessons
- Perform administrative tasks in accordance to Town standard and set deadlines (i.e. attendance, worksheets, report cards, Injury and Incident Reports etc.)
- Attend team meetings and training sessions prior to the start of each session
- Ensure confidentiality of all information pertaining to staff, customers and facility operations
- Assist in providing a clean, healthy, safe environment for the program and ensure equipment is stored as required
- Maintain composure in escalated situations as they arise; immediately report incidents to the Recreation Coordinator/Recreation Programmer or designate
- Responsible for working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Adhere to and enforce the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines and requirements
- Inspect and evaluate required Aquatic Facility Equipment ensuring it is in good order and is ready to be used in emergency situations. Notify the Facility staff and Aquatics Coordinator/Programmer regarding any mechanical issues including but not limited to water quality, chemical levels, air circulation and any other noted or communicated issues.
- Assist the Aquatics Coordinator/Programmer with administrative duties when required such as calling customers, reviewing paperwork and course evaluations
- Maintain the Aquatic enclosure and its equipment throughout the day including but not limited to floors, glass, tile, guard chairs and other equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned

We are seeking an active professional with current Standard First Aid with CPR- C, current Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, and Emergency First Aid Instructor certification. The incumbent must maintain and recertify all required qualifications prior to expiry, otherwise will be expected to notify Recreation Coordinator/Recreation Programmer immediately if qualifications have expired.

This position offers an hourly rate of pay of $20.77.
