KDM Constructors is a Saskatchewan-based general contracting, project management, and skilled trades service provider. KDM Constructors is majority-owned by Kawacatoose First Nation, Day Star First Nation, and Muskowekwan First Nation. **Position**

Reporting to the Corporate Safety Manager, you will be responsible for the overall safety practices, training, and safety management plan for the project. Through safe and timely execution, you will play a leadership role with respect to safety on the job.

This position will be located at BHP Mine Site - Jansen, SK. This is a camp-based position. The Discovery Lodge at BHP is a state-of-the-art camp that includes the following: full-service cafeteria, housekeeping, gym with a raised running track, library, and theatre.

**Job Duties**
- Provide leadership to onsite project managers and all site employees;
- Knowledge of relevant safety laws, codes of practice and standards applicable to the project and province;
- Review project learnings and best practices and incorporate into the project specific Safety Management Plan;
- Review hazard identification (JHA’s) and risk assessments/matrix and ensure implementation of identified controls are effective; Development and updating the site safety Work Practice Risk Assessments (WPRAS);
- Audit of safety systems that are implemented at site;
- Manage the electronic safety management system, SiteDocs and site programs;
- Act as lead with field supervisors for incident investigations and reports;
- Responsible for statistical analysis and injury/damage trend reviews and informing site management of the findings;
- Perform workplace inspections, focus audits and competency checks where authorized and certified;
- Conduct KDM Constructors’ orientation for new employees/visitors;
- Maintain and update KDM Constructors’ training matrix with support from the site safety administrator;
- Maintain and update the site hazardous and controlled product registry (WHMIS);
- Participate in plan task observation and behavior based activities;
- Participate, as appropriate, in responding to workplace incidents or emergencies; Receipt and circulation of relevant Safety information such as lessons learned;
- Complete and submit all weekly safety activity reports for project to client;
- Attend all weekly client progress meetings, speak on all safety related stats;
- Site specific training for workers which would include all KDM Constructors safe work procedures and practices, Fire Extinguisher, Hazard Analysis, Spotter, Safe Work Observation cards, SCOT, TDG, Ground Disturbance etc;
- Develope and update the Project Emergency Response Plan and conduct periodic drills;
- Audit implementation of corrective actions from incident investigations as well as maintain an up-to-date site corrective action log;
- Conduct the weekly site safety meeting for all KDM site team members;
- Lead with site supervision in development of any site-specific Traffic Management Plans;
- Support the site Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Maintain the safety notice board/safety postings board for project on a weekly basis;
- Submit all incident investigations along with corrective and preventative actions to client safety within expected time frame, depending on client requirements;
- Complete lessons learned for all incident/injury and high potential near miss;
- Lead site injury case management;
- Ordering of any site specific safety gear and PPE;
- Conduct the end of shift mitigation report using SiteDocs system in conjunction with the Site Supervisors;
- Maintain a site log of all fire extinguishers, and ensure that a monthly inspection is completed on the extinguishers;
- Track safety deliverables for KDM Constructors’ site supervision on a weekly basis;
- Set up site Drug and Alcohol testing for pre-access, post-incident and reasonable cause as per the KDM Constructors Drug and Alcohol Policy;
- Support the recruiting process by arranging Criminal Record Checks as required;
- Assist in the development of all Site Safe Operating Procedures and Safe Work Procedures with supervisors and tradespersons.
- Manage the SiteDocs Safety System for the project (Profiles, certificates, toolbox talks, audits and inspections).

**Qualifications**
- Knowledge of relevant Safety laws, codes of practice and standards applicable to the project and province
- CSO / NCSO designation required
- Minimum 3 years in a Safety Supervisor or Operations role
- Effective self-managing, good problem-solving skills, planning, organizing and priority setting skills combined with a strong work ethic
- Ability to think critically and make independent decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be open and flexible to change, take initiative and be a team player
- Computer knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint)
