**Job Summary**
The Summer Early Years Day Camp Leader is responsible for the implementation and delivery of active and engaging day camp programming for preschool age children. Planning, preparing and leading a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, the successful applicant will have a positive impact on the children and families involved, and be an important member of the community recreation team. While ensuring participant safety and wellbeing throughout, the Summer Early Years Day Camp Leader will ensure children are engaged and provided with developmentally and age-appropriate programming that provides opportunities for learning exploring and engaging the environment, building connections with peers, and developing motor and fundamental movement skill. The Summer Early Years Day Camp Leader will work collaboratively with a Summer Early Years Day Camp Assistant.

**This position requires an acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent will be required to undergo a criminal record check in order to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment in this position.**

**Qualifications**
- Experience leading and activity planning programs for preschool age children (3-5yrs).
- Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institute (and licensed to practice in BC) considered an asset.
- Current certification in Emergency First Aid with CPR -C (at a minimum).
- Leadership abilities, including role model behaviours, along with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement while creating a positive, enthusiastic, safe and fun program environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal and customer service skills.

**Typical Duties and Responsibilities**
People working in this role can expect to be responsible for performing the following duties. This list is not meant to be comprehensive and other related duties similar in scope and complexity may be performed.
- Delivers safe, successful, healthy and enjoyable programming for preschool age children.
- Completes program activity planning, within an assigned budget - planning activities that are meaningful, engaging, and developmentally and age-appropriate; involving development of fundamental movement and motor skills, and including arts and crafts, dramatic play, and cooperative, science, technology, engineering and math-based activities.
- Promotes social experiences, respect for others and self-sufficiency, in a play-based learning environment.
- Facilitates experiences and play opportunities that promote positive interactions, communication and diversity.
- Provides learning and guidance to participants on appropriate behaviour during play and activities.
- Delivers care and support with behaviour management, inclusion, first aid and other areas relating to caring for children.
- Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
- Works collaboratively with an Early Years Day Camp Assistant.
- Acts as a liaison between the general public and CRD; providing good customer service and clear communication with parents.
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education : College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
