The Baler Operator-Janitorial Support personnel’s primary role is to operate the paper shredder/baler for recycling purposes. Recycling balers are used to compact paper into blocks which can easily be stacked and transported. The Baler Operator is responsible to separate different grades of bales and load bales onto transport trailers. In addition, they will perform a variety of janitorial and maintenance tasks at the Printers Way facility and grounds as directed by the PW Production Manager.

Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday, 6 AM- 6 PM

Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, 6 AM-6 PM

**Job Requirements**:

- High School Diploma/GED/Mature Student Diploma
- Machine operation experience
- Basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance experience
- Effective English use and comprehension
- Digital Literacy (Microsoft Office, keyboarding skills)
- Essential Math skills (Metric and Imperial measurements, problem solving, conversion charts, etc)
- Effective use of production related documents to accomplish job tasks
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery, equipment, product
- Demonstrated organization, prioritizing, time and stress management skills
- Able to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to operate and use small tools
- Continuous learning/improvement mindset
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment while demonstrating self-management capabilities
- Able to deal with people diplomatically and professionally at all times
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures
- Forklift experience an asset, training will be provided

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work and communicate effectively with the Manager and co-workers
- Ensure the safe, efficient operation, cleaning of and running adjustments of the paper shredder and automatic baler while on shift
- Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations
- Perform routine housekeeping and maintenance tasks as it relates to the work space and equipment operated/used
- Other duties include but are not limited to the completion of the following tasks as assigned by the PW Production Manager and according to the schedule:

- Collect production paper waste from all departments
- Sweeping, washing, vacuuming floors as required
- Cleaning recycling and garbage barrels and bins
- Manually bale cardboard
- Operate forklift for the purpose of stacking bales, loading trailers, moving refuse drums/barrels
- Other duties as assigned by the PW Production or Operations Manager

**Education**: Preferred
- High School Diploma or better
