**POSITION**:OUTREACH COORDINATOR

**Hours of Work: Typically, Monday - Friday 9:00 - 5:00 **with the ability to be flexible with hours and work some weekends/and evenings.

The **OUTREACH COORDINATOR** is responsible for connecting to and engaging with people experiencing unhealthy relationships, and domestic/family violence. Working proactively with new and existing clients, designing, and facilitating programming in a non-judgmental and culturally appropriate manner, helping clients to build new skills and achieve their goals. The Outreach Coordinator is expected to carry out appropriate record keeping functions including case notes, and data collection; and provide ongoing contact and support for program participants. The Outreach Coordinator will develop and deliver community education through workshop facilitation presentations in the community, in-person and virtually, and through individual and family support in direct collaboration with the Nova House Team and other key organizations.

**HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED**:

- **BSW or certification in a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.**
- **Applied Counselling Certification will be considered, depending on level of experience.**
- **Optimally, two years’ experience in a related role**
- Experience with counselling, particularly crisis counselling and related short and long-term counselling skills, group counselling and follow-up client work.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with clients addressing short-term and long-term goals.
- Specialized experience and knowledge in working with abused women and children.
- Awareness and understanding of issues pertaining to domestic / partner and family violence and abuse, particularly to the cycle of abuse and the profile of an abuser.
- Awareness and understanding PTSD, addictions, and mental health.
- Understanding of homelessness and the role it plays in the families we work with
- Ability to provide assessment and manage a case load with consistent and appropriate case management skills.
- Identify and document client needs through repeated contacts with clients.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, community liaison, advocacy, and public relations skills.
- Ability and experience in public speaking and presenting.
- Demonstrated communication, writing, and comprehension skills.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and experience working within a variety of cultures with a commitment to the strengths and values of Indigenous knowledge and traditional healing practices.
- Knowledge of available community resources in the Selkirk/Interlake region
- Ability to navigate resources and connect our clients to the services they need.
- Ability to assist in moving clients to new safe environments.
- Manage donations that relate to supporting clients needs when moving into their new place.
- Clear understanding of confidentiality and boundary management
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position (lifting, cleaning, highway driving)
- Valid Driver’s License & acceptable drivers abstract, reliable vehicle, ability to manage highway driving
- Current CPR, Emergency First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate, Clear Criminal Record and Adult/Child abuse registry check.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.00 per week
