Reporting to the Dean and working in close collaboration with the BEd Program Director, the Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Education.

**Responsibilities/Accountabilities**:
The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments. The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.

**Required Skills**:

- Extensive theoretical and practical background in EDI, Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, critical pedagogy and
- decolonizing pedagogies.
- Lived experience as a member of a racialized community.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of how the theoretical foundations of EDI are applied in practice (K-12 and post-secondary)
- A proven ability to integrate technology meaningfully and effectively in an online learning environment
- A strong ability to design and lead interactive, collaborative learning experiences in an online learning environment
- A strong understanding of undergraduate education
- Sound knowledge of appropriate and effective evaluation of graduate student performance
- Demonstrated ability to deliver classes remotely, using online modalities such as ZOOM
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the Learning Management System, Canvas
- Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage course delivery, marking of assignments, and responding to student enquiries in a timely manner

**Education**:

- A PhD in Education is required
- Membership (in good standing) with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) is required
- A Supervisory Officer's Certificate is required

**Experience**:

- Successful teaching at the pre-service and K-12 level
- Lived experience as a member of a racialized community
- Successful post-secondary teaching
- Successful work with provincial education stakeholders
- Successful ministerial work in Ontario
- Successful infusion of digital technologies in practice as purposeful teaching tools for, as, and of learning in the classroom
- Demonstrated evidence-based, or research-informed practice
- Successful teaching incorporating an LMS, fully online learning platforms especially Canvas
- Success in building virtual learning communities.

Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.
