Mould Design Leader

**Primary Purpose of the Position**:
Part and mould design functions within the requirements of the Engineering department.

**Specific Duties**:

- Review and log data for new mold designs or engineering changes
- Assist program manager / estimator with any design issues for quoting.
- Review APQP sheets and PM Master for initial build kick-offs or engineering changes with program manager
- Record and present any design issues to program manager.
- Set-up and participate in preliminary design reviews
- Set-up and participate in final design reviews
- Update design reviews, design issues and job information
- Make sure Engineering department supplies all machining files to CNC dept. and shop floor.
- Participate in the design schedule on daily basis.
- Participate in daily morning updates on work that is in progress.
- Prepare and upload outgoing data for outsourcing and customers.
- Consistently work with mold makers and CNC department to update on how to better assist them with issuing files and design information to make mold build easier.
- Perform feasibilities for potential future work.
- Design engineering changes
- Fabricate power points to explain in detail the engineering changes required to line up floor leaders.
- Fill in design checklist for all designs being performed outside ensure changes are colour coded in files.
- Attend own design meetings if they are same customer then all attends.
- Take notes then pm will collectively make a work order.
- Fill out design checklist daily.
- Update % complete first before leave
- Make and output own files to shop floor.
- put out.dxf files for plates when ordering.
- Follow same naming scheme _xxxx core finishing (etc)_date_-on files to plant and cimatron tree and remove obsolete files
- Setup meeting requests
- Design reviews
- when surfaces done with customer
- when water and ejection done with plant
- 3- when design done 75% with customer
- Plant will communicate directly with required requests.
- Continue to correct catalogs to supplier part numbers we purchase from
- Regulate Overtime - stay when deadline needs to be met.
- Ensure BOM’s are accurate and correct.
- Download log data for quotes
- Reviews data for oversights, complications and non-build issues**, **identifies all pertinent costs to be identified for the purposes of performing the Cost-Estimating and Quoting**, **ensuring that where requirements are changed, they are documented & communicated to relevant Estimator
- Perform Block outs
- Feasibility Review convenes meeting of appropriate department managers to confirm and document the manufacturing feasibility of the proposed products, the company’s capability to meet defined requirements.
- Kick off meeting with team members to document any deliverables or special design characteristics
- Identifies the product design and development stages and key dates (ensuring plans are updated, as applicable, throughout the program)
- Verifies applicable quoted line items to ensure assigned designer has all pertinent information
- Establish the interfaces between groups to ensure effective communication and clear assignment of responsibility
- Determines the review, verification and validation activities that are appropriate to each design and development stage, including customer acceptance criteria and present any design issues to program manager
- Assigns the respective responsibilities and authorities for product design and development ensuring that design personnel are competent to achieve design requirements and are skilled in applicable tools and techniques
- Reviews all design & development inputs to ensure that requirements are complete, unambiguous, & not in conflict with each other & further identifies the measurements to be monitored, analyzed & reported to management for their reviews.
- Ensure all Laval and/or customer standards are met in the designs
- Conduct Peer Reviews of each mold design before issuing to next department
- Record meeting notes, follow up with designs to ensure completed

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
