- As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible to set-up and program the Waterjet machine for all parts as per the engineered drawings, place materials, cut parts, and complete maintenance of the Waterjet. Primary duties include:
- Review work orders, locate material required, program provided DXF files into the Waterjet computer to optimize layout, load material, cut parts, remove parts and store safely, notify work planners and foreman of completed jobs.
- Operate an overhead crane, horizontal and vertical bandsaw, metal shear, metal press brake, iron worker, sander, drill press and other equipment that may be necessary for job completion.
- Provide preventative maintenance on Waterjet as per the maintenance schedule.
- Troubleshoot and replace small, failed consumable parts and work with trades foreman to bring in manufacturer approved repair persons for larger repairs.
- Prepare material for shipping, move parts using a forklift and complete shop cleanup.
**Qualifications**
- A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g GED) and at least 2 years of experience operating and programming a Waterjet, setting up and operating a press, brake, shear, saw, iron worker and using CAD software.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- An understanding OMAX Layout program and knowledge of an OMAX Waterjet will also be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude will also be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, customer service, attention to detail and technical proficiency.
**Working Conditions**:Work is performed in the Fabrication and Welding shop, with exposure to noise, welding, fumes and fire/heat while operating equipment.
**Pre-employment Requirements**
- Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
**Pre-employment Drug Test**: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
