**Head Chef**:
**VG Group is looking for a Head Chef in Toronto, ON**

We are looking to hire a critical thinker and skilled problem-solver with retail shop skills to join our retail team with cross-over into production and farming. You will assist our efforts by ensuring our offerings and efforts are of the highest quality and honour the efforts put in by all that contribute and consume. To do well in this role, you should have a vast knowledge of the culinary arts, food prep operations and retail, be highly skilled, and have a strong desire to make decisions that lead to regeneration.

**Hours**:

- $26.50/hr
- 44 to 48 hours per week

**Main duties**

Head Chef performs some or all of the following duties:

- Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of establishments engaged in wholesale and retail sales
- Manage staff and assign duties
- Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and the effect of competitors' operations on sales
- Develop and improve customer service and experience
- Collaborate with peer groups
- Determine merchandise and services to be sold, and implement price and credit policies
- Support set up and development of new and underperforming stores
- Develop and implement product offerings
- Improve current product offerings
- Support Financial plans and authorize expenditures
- Resolve customer complaints
- Determine staffing requirements and hire or oversee the hiring of staff
- Oversee Kitchen and hot food service operations
- Support and lead continuous improvement in operations and meat plant operations
- Understand and teach farming methods and approach
- Cure, cook and smoke various retail offering
- Develop and support the development of various recipes
- Learn and lead the use of current and newly implemented systems

**Employment requirements**
- A university degree or college diploma in Culinary Arts or other field related is required.
- 5 years of butchery, meat processing or related retail sales experience
