- The salary range is $2,369.08 ‐ $3,806.85 bi‐weekly (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.**Position Summary**
- As Island Pre-Health coordinator, responsibilities include guiding students in career path selection, establishing relationships with student advisors and community professionals, leading the admissions review process, and ensuring program success through communication with interested parties. The director is also responsible for promoting the program to prospective students through collaboration with high school recruiters and marketing professionals. Additionally, they are responsible for providing support to students, coordinating work placements and applied research projects.**Position Competencies**

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Collaborates with the Math and Science department faculty to maintain a safe, operational, and learner-friendly environment in the program.
- Contributes to Island Pre-Health program internal and external reporting requirements.
- Providing guidance to students in identifying suitable career pathways based on their individual aspirations.
- Establishing meaningful connections with student advisors to better support the students academic and personal success.
- Maintaining effective communication with interested parties, including faculty, staff, and external partners, to foster collaboration and promote program success.
- Collaborating with high school recruiters and marketing professionals to increase program visibility and attract prospective students.
- Developing and cultivating relationships with professionals in the community who can serve as guest lecturers, provide volunteer opportunities, and support research initiatives for students.
- Ensuring indigenous-led learning is a key component of the program by working closely with an elder and actively recruiting and supporting indigenous learners.
- Providing support to students experiencing challenges and promoting their well-being.
- Coordinating work placements for Work Integrated Learning students or collaborating with community members to facilitate applied research projects and overseeing the assessment of these courses.
- Facilitating IPH 350, Island Pre-Health Applied Research.

**Required Education & Experience**
- Ph.D. in Biology, Public Health, or a similar field;
- Minimum three years of current and related teaching experience in a post-secondary setting;
- BC Instructor Diploma or BC Teaching Certificate is highly desirable.
- Please note that Graduate degree(s) must be in a closely related field appropriate to the area of specialization.

**Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities**
- Demonstrated research experience with publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience teaching adults is required, preferably at the Post Secondary level.
- Demonstrated excellent instructional abilities, using creative and motivating approaches to learning.
- Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours, support cooperative and effective working relationships, and contribute to shared team goals.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines.
- Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to accept personal responsibility to ensure quality of work, attention to details and ongoing learning.
- Experience with willingness to learn, online learning management systems, i.e.D2L Brightspace.
- Valid BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
