**GEOMATICS (GIS) TECHNICIAN OR ANALYST (2 positions to be filled)**

**SUMMARY**

The incumbent will participate in the research, development, planning, organisation, study, implementation, and dissemination of geographic information systems. They will act as a specialist for the work in its entirety from various provincial and municipal departments, as well as external users. This work is associated with research, analysis, assessment, and the production of various plans, focus papers or cartographs, such as geomorphological maps, maps on land development, tables, statistics, inventories, and aerial photography. They are also tasked with overseeing map databases, assessing the quality of statistics, integrating statistics to the dissemination system, and verifying final structures in order to ensure that they are complete and precise.

**TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop dissemination tools for geographical statistics, and tools for infrastructure and territorial management.
- Create, organise, and update various plans, maps, and geographical database that will meet diverse internal thematic needs (planning, environmental ).
- Help users and meet their GIS requests.
- Analyse, interpret and manipulate aerial photography, LIDAR statistics, subdivision plans, drawings / engineering plans, geographical maps, and more.
- Manage spatial data (research, digitize, conduct geoprocessing, analyse ), as well as participate in modeling and establishing geomatics systems.
- Establish priorities for GIS requests and needs stemming from various stakeholders, conduct follow-ups and ensure that deadlines are met.
- Identify the most efficient way to present information and select the appropriate cartographic features for projects.
- Prepare technical documents and provide visual aids for monthly meetings of the planning advisory committee.
- Perform other non-exhaustive technical functions to assist in project delivery and ensure that operations run smoothly.

**MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS**

**Education**
- University diploma in: Geomatics, Geography, Engineering (geographic information systems [GIS]) or another combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.

**Driver’s license**
- Holder of a valid driver’s license (class 5).

**Experience**
- One (1) year of experience in a similar position with relevant experience.

**Knowledge**
- Great knowledge of written and oral French and English.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
- Great knowledge of the computing environment of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent knowledge of project management concepts and techniques, research methods and statistical analysis.
- Ability to process LIDAR data (LAS, MNT) and within the structure / organisation of GIS layers.
- Knowledge valued in asset management and 3D data management.
- Drone pilot license would be an asset.

**Abilities**
- Ability to analyse and synthesize, in a logical manner and with good judgement.
- Methodical with a good sense of organisation and observation, ability to manage priorities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work within short timeframes and adapt quickly to change and emergencies.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to maintain multiple files simultaneously.
- Ability to show initiative, creativity, innovation, and motivation.
- Excellent written abilities for the preparation and presentation of reports.
- Good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate and interact easily with several stakeholders.

**HOURS OF WORK**

Thirty-five (35) hours per week.
