We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Disability Manager to join our People team in Langley, BC.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health & Safety, Claims & Disability Management, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring the day-to-day and long-term strategic operations of claims, accommodations and return to work for all retail team members in Save-On-Foods LP and Pattison Food Group Office team members.

You will be responsible for:

- Leading and managing the Employer’s duty to accommodate disabled workers who return to work.
- Leading and developing the Return-to-Work team and their operations as well as managing the Return-to-Work process, ensuring ongoing frequent audits, and maintenance of accurate data, case notes and overseeing Return-to-Work plans.
- Overseeing disability claims and continually improving the claims processes to align with the wellness strategy.
- Overseeing the relationship with outside service providers for WorkSafe claims, appeals and WCAT files, ensuring that claims are reviewed regularly followed-up on, and claims trends are analysed and reported upon.
- Overseeing non-occupational illness and injury through the Attendance Review process.
- Overseeing the relationship with insurance carriers and other health professionals to obtain claimant status and progression reports.
- Continually developing, implementing, and evaluating the disability management statistics, data accuracy, and improvements and providing recommendations.
- Partnering with the carriers and WorkSafe to ensure team members are provided return to work options, that support their return-to-work goal.
- Collaborating with Health and Safety to find creative solutions to achieve a Zero Incident ratio for workplace injury.
- Partnering with Health and Safety as a key support for the Certificate of Recognition (COR) BC and PIR AB initiatives.
- Partnering closely with internal partners/stakeholders to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.

You have:

- A Post Secondary Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in disability claims management with complex claims and variety of benefit plans within a union and non-unionized environment.
- 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of the “duty to accommodate” laws and legislation for BC, AB, SK, MB, and YT.
- In depth experience working with the WorkSafe (BC) and WCB (AB, SK, MB, and YT) regulations, policies, and practices and of Insurance Carrier plans as they relate to short
- and long-term disability.
- Strong knowledge of employment/labour legislation, and the BC and AB Human Rights Code.
- Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams etc.)
- Experience with Workday and Service Now is an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
