DynaLIFE is one of Western Canada's largest diagnostics medical laboratories and performs more than 14 million tests every year. DynaLIFE services are provided by approximately 1000 laboratory employees working at more than 30 sites. We provide an integrated network of laboratory services connecting hospitals, physician offices, community collection sites and referral testing centers across Central and Northern Alberta. We also consult and provide reference-testing services to laboratories in Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories. As a Clinical Chemist you will be part of a team overseeing the diagnostic testing and quality assurance of core lab activities and five rural hospitals.

**Major Functions and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the interpretation and reporting of protein electrophoresis, alpha-1 antitrypsin phenotyping, CSF oligoclonal banding, cryoglobulin typing, and thalassemia/hemoglobinopathy investigation.
- Provides advice and consultation to physicians on the selection of appropriate tests and interpretation of results used in investigation, diagnosis and monitoring of disease.
- Routine supervision of quality assurance processes as well as test utilization initiatives.
- Participation in academic or administrative committees, where appropriate. Administrative activities include participation in departmental, regional and provincial networks.
- Conducts collaborative research and development.
- Support teaching in general pathology, hematopathology, hematology, clinical biochemistry and medical laboratory science programs.

Required Experience
- 3 - 5 years of experience as a clinical chemist is preferred; however, new graduates and first/second year trainees in a certified clinical chemistry program are encouraged to apply.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Certified (or eligible for certification once clinical chemistry program is complete) in Clinical Biochemistry by the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent.

**Other Information**
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications according to the Alberta Health Services salary grid.
