Based in our **Sault Ste. Marie** location, the **Lab Technician** will report to the Laboratory Manager and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focus on in-house laboratory testing services for soils, aggregate, asphalt, concrete and construction materials. Using up to date equipment and approved methods, we provide lab testing, field testing and sample collection services to meet our client’s construction and geotechnical needs.
**What You’ll Do**:
As part of the TULLOCH Engineering team, you will:
- Carry out laboratory testing of soils, concrete and asphalt
- Perform regular equipment calibrations
- Monitor the placement of soil, granular materials and asphalt and carry out compaction testing using a density gauge
- Perform in lab testing according to specifications for soil, granular, asphalt and concrete
- Perform concrete slump, air test and cast test cylinders in the field
- Properly identify/classify soil types from samples
- Prepare daily, field and laboratory test reports and other client deliverables
- Liaise with laboratory manager, supervisors, and contractor personnel

**What You Should Bring**:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in a materials testing laboratory or a laboratory setting is considered an asset
- CCIL certification for concrete, soils and/or asphalt testing is considered an asset
- Experience with laboratory testing procedures
- Efficient and accurate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Data entry, data interpretation and report generating skills
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write accurate, detailed field reports and make recommendations
- High motivation with results-oriented focus
- Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Unwavering commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Valid, Class G driver’s licence
