Quality Assurance -Regulatory Specialist

**Responsibilities**

1. Ensure that companies’ food products meet all applicable regulations, such as those established by the Canadian Food and Drug Act and Regulations and FDA’s Food Labelling Requirements.

2. Provide label and packaging artwork reviews for a variety of food products entering into the food market.

3. Ensure that nutritional labels on packaging are current and adhere to the regulations. This involves going through ingredients and verifying that they are listed correctly on the label.

4. Stay up to date with new applicable laws, regulatory changes, recommend and communicate changes to the QA Manager for new and exiting products.

5. Develop, review and update nutrient and ingredient labelling information in compliance with government regulations, policies and company guidelines includes Nutrition Facts Table (NFT) and ingredient list.

6. Proofread and check all aspects of new and existing packaging material and labels for regulatory compliance.

7. Develop and maintain Product Specifications and other company related templates like Certificate of Analysis.

8. Assist with the updating and maintenance of customer portals.

9. Respond to customer inquiries by completing forms, questions and providing supporting documents. For example, sharing updated 3rd party audits, Letters of Guarantee, and allergen statements.

10. Assess ingredients, identify claims (organic, natural, GMO free etc.), food safety challenges (i.e., allergens), limits of use.

**Education and qualification requirements**

1. Bachelor’s degrees in scientific disciplines such as nutrition, food science, chemistry, or biology - an asset

2. Proficiency and strong competency in English, both written and verbal abilities

3. Ability to work independently.

4. Strong technical writing skills, and ability to review and critique regulatory documents and packaging.

5. Excellent organizational, time-management, analytical and problem-solving skills.

6. Knowledge of Health Canada, CFIA, and FDA regulatory affairs.

7. Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

**Experience**

1. Minimum of 2 years work experience in quality or regulatory affairs role in food industry or related field

2. Working experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point Systems.

3. Proven attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

4. Working knowledge of any GFSI Certification (BRCGS, SQF etc.)

5. Experience using Genesis R&D® Food Formulation & Labeling Software - an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
