**Veterinary Assistant - Hammonds Plains Veterinary Hospital**

Hammonds Plains Veterinary Hospital is looking to hire a full time Veterinary Assistant. We are a 4 doctor practice with an amazing supportive team environment looking to grow. We are one of the few remaining independently owned and operated, full service small animal hospitals in the Halifax area. We strive to create positive, welcoming and lasting relationships between our staff, our clients and their pets.

For this Full Time position, we are looking for a _**certified**_ Veterinary Assistant that excels in communication, is compassionate, competent, eager and a team player. Some of the responsibilities and qualities required for this role are;
- Assisting veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments when required
- Assisting Veterinary Technicians with ongoing patient care
- Reception Duties
- Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments.
- Placing and receiving calls for follow-up and appointment bookings
- Admitting and discharging pet patients
- Invoicing/billing; creating estimates, obtaining pet owner confirmation and processing payments.
- Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting people at ease and creating a welcoming environment.
- Strong organizational skills
- General housekeeping duties

Graduation from a Veterinary Assistant program is required

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

**Experience**:

- Veterinary Assistant Schooling: 1 year (required)
- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
