Temporary, Part time - 28 hours / week

7 month Term

We are currently recruiting for a temporary, part time Family Home Visitor for our Family and Community Support Services department.

About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Family Home Visitor Coordinator, this position will provide in-home support to families requiring services in order to meet residents’ goals and needs. This may include education and support of parenting and childhood development, working with appropriate stakeholders to advocate for client’s needs and continue the work with those already involved with client, and build capacity in individuals through education and goal accomplishments.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

- In Home Family Support and building individual goal plans with families to meet their goals
- Develop and maintain ongoing contact with social services
- Assist and support residents to navigate and access services, programs and resources

Qualifications:

- At minimum, a diploma in social services and/or human services discipline.
- Solid understanding of childhood development and the needs of parents, children and families is preferred.
- Integrated Strategies for Home Visitation, Suicide Intervention, Mental Health First Aid and Standard First Aid are assets.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working one-on-one with individuals and families, as well as working in partnerships with a variety of agencies.
- Experience working with a diverse population that may be experiencing mental health, poverty, homelessness and/or addictions issues.
- Knowledge of housing, employment, social services and supportive agencies.
- Training in ASQ, Triple P, Circle of Security, and Nobody’s Perfect would be considered an asset.
- Experience in Emergency Social Services is an asset.
- Be willing to work flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends.
- Must have an operator’s license and vehicle to drive.
- Must be willing to provide a clean Criminal Records Check-Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention Check, at own expense, as part of the hiring process.
