**THE ROLE**

We are looking for an **Electrolyte Technician** to join our R&D Cell Chemistry team. The Electrolyte Technician is responsible for preparing the chemical mixtures required to make our rechargeable battery electrolytes. Accuracy in this work is critical to ensure R&D operates efficiently and makes the correct choices for future battery designs. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Lab Duties**
- Prepare electrolyte recipes on schedule and according to specification. O
- Calculate and prepare “base solutions” (i.e., the lowest common multiple formula) to improve throughput and comparability for groups of electrolytes.
- Operate analytical equipment including density, viscosity, conductivity meters, and Karl Fisher coulometers and an awareness for how they function to be able to recognize problems.
- Handle electrolyte preparation and characterization database entry.
- Conduct occasional purification of chemicals according to procedure or instruction provided by scientists.
- Read, understand, and adhere to chemical safety data sheets (SDS).
- Maintain an accurate record for our R&D chemical inventory.
- Ensure a constant supply of key solvents and additives by working with our Logistics team to prepare the required purchase orders.
- Be responsible for partial or complete gas cylinder inventory management.
- Remove contaminated waste and electrolyte waste.
- Clean and restock electrolyte preparation consumables.
- Examine procedures for improvement opportunities.

**Calibration Duties**
- Interact with external calibration contractors as required.
- Coordinate with calibration supervisor to perform the scheduled calibrations on selected R&D equipment.
- Conduct regular verification of instrument performance.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 2-year Technical/College Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Proficient with basic mathematical operations including algebra and normalization. The ability to calculate salt molarity and perform linear interpolations would be an additional favourable asset.
- Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel to facilitate calculations and data reporting.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work under mínimal supervision in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
- A basic understanding of chemical hazard classes and behaviour such as common incompatibilities would be an advantage.
- Experience working in an industrial research laboratory would be an asset.
